All-ceramic dental crowns are medical devices used to cap or completely cover a tooth being restored. Most crowns last between five and 15 years before needing to be replaced (or at least repaired). Dental crowns help to modify the shape and size of tooth, strengthen the tooth, and improve esthetic appearance. The all-ceramic dental crowns market growth is attributed to the increasing prevalence of dental disorders around the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), worldwide, around 2.3 billion people suffer from caries of permanent teeth and more than 530 million children suffer from caries of primary teeth.

Crowns are often use to restore a broken tooth, replace partially decayed tooth, cover a tooth implant, bridge the gap, cover a discolored or badly shaped tooth, etc. Thus, market players are focused on developing new and innovative dental crowns to cater the increasing demand due to increasing prevalence of dental disorders. For example, in June 2020, National Research Tomsk State University, Russia launched biocompatible dental implants that appear as natural teeth and does not cause any allergic reactions. Moreover, in February 2019, 3M announced the launch of a CAD/CAM zirconia block, 3M Chairside Zirconia. The new material is said to optimize strength, esthetics, and process speed for crowns and bridges.

Moreover, the material is available in two block sizes and eight different shades designed for crowns and three-unit bridges to match the color shade of the patient’s teeth. Furthermore, rise in adoption of advanced dentistry technologies, growing geriatric population, rise in preference for cosmetic surgeries, surge in edentulous population, and increase in per capita income are some of the major factors driving the all-ceramic dental crowns market growth. According to the American College of Prosthodontists, an educational and scientific organization, around 23 million Americans are completely edentulous and around 12 million are edentulous in one arch.

Of which, around 90% of the population suffer from edentulism have dentures. Moreover, the ratio of edentulous in the geriatric population is 2 to 1. Growth of the all-ceramic dental crowns market, in North America, is also driven by the increasing awareness regarding dental health and health benefits of the health policy. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), due to the increasing prevalence of dental conditions, around 37 states in the United States have added dental health benefits to Medicaid policy. Apart from this, increasing popularity of GUM surgery by laser and increasing utilization of CAD/CAM technologies to manufacture dental crowns are some of the recent trends in the all-ceramic dental crowns market.
