Uprooting your life and starting anew in a different city is never easy. Doing it in the midst of a pandemic can be even more of a challenge. But that’s exactly what Dr. Josh Todd and his wife Megan did when they moved to Pensacola and opened Elite Endodontics last month.

And in true Pensacola fashion, the community has welcomed them with open arms.

“We’ve met so many wonderful people here,” Dr. Todd said. “We’re just now beginning to make new friends.”

Todd, an Army veteran, spent 12 years in active duty before moving to Pensacola to be closer to family.

“My parents retired to Pensacola about five or six years ago,” Todd said. “We’ve never lived near family. Our kids are 7 and 4. We wanted them to be closer to their grandparents.”

Moving to Pensacola was the first step. Finding a location for his new practice was next.

In a twist of fate, a space at 6111 N. Davis Highway in Pensacola was about to become available.

“It just so happened that the endodontist that was here before retired a few months ago,” Todd said. “Thankfully, we were able to get (the office).”

Elite Endodontics offers a host of services, including root canal therapy, apicoectomy, cracked teeth treatments and sedation dentistry. If the thought of sitting in the dentist’s chair makes you nervous, fear not. Headphones for music and showing pictures of the procedure in real-time will help put you at ease.

“A picture is worth a thousand words, and the patients really appreciate it,” Todd said.

But another procedure puts the “elite” in Elite Endodontics.

“We’re the only GentleWave provider in the panhandle,” Todd said.

The GentleWave Procedure, which involves disinfecting the root canal system, uses groundbreaking technology to employ an effective combination of broad-spectrum acoustic energy and advanced fluid dynamics to remove tissue, debris and bacteria.

According to Todd, a week long training process is required to become a GentleWave provider.

“They walk you through every step,” Todd said. “There’s no cutting corners. They observe you to make sure you’re doing everything by the book and performing in the very highest standard.”

Elite Endodontics is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For more information, visit endodontistpensacola.com or call 850-696-0820.
