Irma “Jean” Kooser, 73, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at Mon Health Medical Center following a short battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 18, 1947, in Connellsville, Pa., a daughter of Clayton Reese and the late Lois (Woodmancy) Reese.

She was a 1965 graduate of Connellsville Joint Senior High School. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Christ and a founding member of the University Church of Christ. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She retired after 25 years as an orthodontist assistant for Dr. Robert Walsh. In her free time, she traveled from coast to coast, supporting her grandchildren’s activities. She loved spending time with her family, especially her summer vacations along the Outer Banks.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 54 years, Franklin Kooser Sr.; children, Kelly Canfield and her husband Whitney, of Frederick, Md., and Franklin Kooser Jr. and his wife Jodi, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Timothy Clayton Kooser, Lillian Grace Kooser and Katelyn Reese Canfield; siblings, Catherine Brown and her husband Leroy, Carol Belt and her husband Howard, Ida Grabosky and her husband Raymond, Wanda Miskove and her husband Mike, Phyllis Paul and her husband Kenneth and Brian Reese; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, she is also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, William D. and Grace E. Kooser.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 Friday, from 5-8 p.m., Sept. 10 and from 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Ben Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Morgantown.
