Henry Maccaro and his wife, Linda, started their pediatric dental practice forty-three years ago in Williston Park. The husband-and-wife team along with four staff members, who’ve been with them for nearly thirty years, have recently opened up a new office at 910 Franklin Ave. in Garden City.
“To say that the Maccaro Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry is a family office is an understatement,” said Samuel Sireci, Marketing Manager for the dental practice. “Henry and Linda have been with each other since the beginning, when they were doing their residency at a hospital in Manhattan. All four of the staff members have been at the practice since the early days in Williston Park.”
The staff members, who include the administrative team of Theresa Cottone and Santina Onorio, and Irena the orthodontics assistant and Tana the hygienist, have a great story to tell each one of their patients every time they come in.
“It’s such a great family dynamic in the office because Theresa and Santina have known each other since they were five years old growing up in Elmont, and Irena and Tana are best friends who grew up in Slovenia. They emigrated to the United States thirty years ago and they’ve been a part of the Maccaro family ever since,” said Sireci. “Irena and Tana were originally au pairs, who helped to raise Dr. Maccaro’s sons, Justin and Alex, before they joined the office staff as an assistant and a hygienist.”
The practice became even more family oriented eight years ago when Justin, after doing his residency in California, joined the team as a practicing orthodontist.
“The practice is such a great atmosphere and the staff is so caring and familiar with all of its patients. We have a handful of patients who are three generation families, where the parents brought their kids here when they were young, and now their children are bringing their kids.”
The new office space in Garden City is like something out of a modern art gallery, complete with a neon sign, bubble lights, a toothbrush station, a kids play area, a state-of-the-art consultation room, a giant fish tank and a modern coffee bar.
“This was a really big move, from the small space that Dr. Maccaro started with in Williston Park to this state-of-the-art modernized office that his son helped him to create. Our patients are not afraid of the dentistry or orthodontics aspect when they come into the office. It’s just the opposite in fact. They are really excited and pumped to come see us.”
Another feature of the office that is a big hit with the kids is when Dr. Maccaro brings his dogs into the office. He is a dog enthusiast who currently owns nine English Springer Spaniels.
The new practice opened in Garden city on August 25th, after being pushed back a month because of restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26th at 12 p.m.
