CHICAGO, Jan. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — A career in prosthodontics is once again one of the “Best Jobs” according to U.S. News & World Report. This year the news organization ranked prosthodontist as No. 16 on their list of “The 25 Best Jobs of 2018,” compared to No. 21 last year.

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the restoration and replacement of missing teeth and correcting other oral or facial issues. With their advanced training, prosthodontists are able to help patients with implants, dentures and veneers, all the way to full mouth and jaw reconstructions.

“A prosthodontic career is extremely gratifying as we transform patients’ overall health on a daily basis,” said President of the American College of Prosthodontists, Robert M. Taft, DDS, FACP. “I am personally committed to advancing this organization, all in the interest of providing state of the art care for our patients.”

Prosthodontists also scored high in the ranking of “Best Paying Jobs” coming in at No. 10, with an estimated median salary of $126,050, and the profession came in at No.14 on the list of “Best Health Care Jobs.”

The rankings are determined by an examination of several factors, including work-life balance, employment rate and the potential for job growth, an area in which prosthodontics is excelling. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the demand for prosthodontists will rise 17.2% by 2026.

Overall, the health care industry dominated the best jobs ranking, taking 20 of the 25 top spots. Dentist came in at No. 2 on the list, a cause for celebration for prosthodontists because many also practice general dentistry.

The American College of Prosthodontists applauds these findings. With three years of training beyond dental school and expertise with advanced digital technology, prosthodontists are capable of creating personalized treatment plans for patients in need of life changing dental care.
