The Sic COVID Series is a special program to empower the Baylor Community in its ability to address the both the regional and global issues arising from the COVID-19 Pandemic. We hope to stimulate both beneficial discussion and action that will support the communities affected by this global crisis. This program is a development of the cooperation from Baylor College of Medicine National School of Tropical Medicine, the Baylor University Departments of Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Public Health, the Office of Prehealth Studies and Undergraduate Research.

There remains too many unknowns and too few knowns about the SARS-CoV-2 virus and COVID-19 disease. Press, Government, and Science appear to be in continual diasgreement about the extent of the future of this pandemic. Here we will attempt to clairfy the truths and misconceptions about the origins of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, history of the pandemic, modes of viral transmission, epidemiology (regional, national, and international) of the pandemic, mechanisms of pathology of infections, and efforts for disease treatment and infection/disease prevention
