WACO, Texas – Baylor track & field student-athletes Mazie Larsen and Aaliyah Miller have been named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women’s Track & Field / Cross Country Team, the organization announced Thursday.
Larsen and Miller are two of 10 selections in District 7, which consists of Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. Larsen holds a 4.0 GPA studying Health Science Studies – Pre-Med/Pre-Dental, while Miller registered a GPA of 3.47/3.66 as she works toward her master’s in Sport Management. They now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-August.
On the track, Larsen earned a spot of the Big 12 podium in the 1,000 meters with an eighth-place finish. The junior from Gretna, Neb., recorded a personal-best time in the prelims (2:54.55) to secure a spot in the finals. At the Baylor invitational, she placed sixth in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:46.58.
Miller had a historic season on the track, winning the indoor national championship in the 800 meters and becoming an All-American for the fourth time with a school-record run of 2:00.69. The senior from McKinney, Texas, qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship in the 800 meters and 4×400-meter relay. She won the Big 12 title in the 800 meters and was runner-up in the 4×400-meter relay outdoors, while capturing Big 12 indoor titles in the 800 meters and 4×400-meter relay.
